Archaeological site: the Cave of the Leap (Qafzeh cave) is a worldwide important site that was discovered in the 1970s. Archaeological excavations in the cave found thirteen human remains dating back 10,000 years. The skeletons were found with red ochre alongside the bones. The site also found pottery and other findings indicate that the place was used for residence as well as for burial.
112 years ago the mountain was used as a quarry. Now it`s abandoned. Today it uses as a highway that goes through a tunnel dug in the mountain at the site of the old quarry, connecting Afula and Israel Valley directly to Nazareth. It is recommended that you come to it as part of a daily tour to the north of the country and stay there for at least two hours. There is also a cafe and a restaurant that serves authentic food.
